Educational Background


Soumaila Coulibaly’s research interests lie in the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the West African Sahel, especially of his native Mali. He has a long-standing engagement and experience with heritage management, within governmental and non-governmental structures. His current research focuses on oral tradition, history and identity in the region of Segu, Mali. Within the Markadugu Project, he works with an interdisciplinary approach to the African past, combining written and oral sources, and archaeological evidence.
