Workshop: "Religious Speakers - Authority and Influence of Word and People"
The Workshop "Religious Speakers - Authority and Influence of Word and People"
(February 20th - 21st, Frankfurt) explores the notion of "religious resources" by addressing questions such as the following:
Who are religious speakers and how did they become prominent? What are the contents of the speeches and what kind of issues do they
open up? How do religious speeches influence and shape the relations between speakers and listeners and the relations in communities? Where do religious speaker’s charisma and authority emanate from?
The Workshop is part of the research project "Religious Speech as a Resource in South and Central Asia. Indoctrination, Medialisation and Commercialisation" located at the Collaborative Research Center SFB 1070 "ResourceCultures". The workshop is organised in cooperation with the Frobenius Institute.
