Alexander Chenchenko studied Ethnology and African Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 2015 to 2018. After his bachelor degree, he moved to Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, where he completed the master programme in Social and Cultural Anthropology from 2019 to 2022. He is currently a PhD student at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Goethe University. Since November 2022, he has been working as a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk - Bischöfliche Studienförderung in the project „Religion als Infrastruktur. Ethnographische Studie zu religiösen Dynamiken in Kafa (Äthiopien)“.
